St. Adolf Holy Cross Parish Kanyabacope Celebrates Third Anniversary

Kanyabacope, Fort Portal Diocese – Province of East Africa | 14 September 2026

St. Adolf Holy Cross Parish, Kanyabacope, in the Fort Portal Diocese, joyfully celebrated its 3rd Anniversary on 14 September 2026, the Feast of the Triumph (Exaltation) of the Holy Cross.

The celebration was a moment of thanksgiving for God’s grace and the continued growth of the parish community, as the faithful gathered to honor the Holy Cross and renew their commitment to Christ and the mission of the Church.

Celebrated on Sunday 13th September 2026 – FOR PASTORAL REASONS

The celebrations were attended by Br Cleophas Kyomuhendo csc, Novice Master and Provincial Vicar. Novices: Charles Kialo, Denis Kioko, Denish Adukule, Gebra Polycarp,  Joseph Kapoma, Kenneth Turyasingura and Patrick Osinde. The Holy Cross Priest in attendance were: Fr Innocent Ahuniriza csc, Fr Joseph Isingoma csc, Fr Andrew Mulema csc, Fr Serapio Wamara csc and Fr Benjamin Kamushana csc. Katosa Dean Fr Busobozi Venancia Atwooki and Fr Isigoma Edward of Iboroga Parish also attended.

The Parish was officially opened on 26/11/2023 by Mgr. Mayombo Adyeeri break off from St Jude Tadeo Holy Cross Parish Kyarusozi. Those who were assigned to begin the Mission were Fr Ronnie Kawooya csc as Father in Charge, Deacon Charles Bunjako csc, and Seminarian Benjamin Kamushana csc. Currently the Parish is run by Fr Andrew Mulema csc, as Father in Charge and Frs Serapio Wamara csc and Benjamin Kamushana csc as curates.

The Main Celebrant was Fr Peter Caxton Mayanja csc, the Provincial. He summoned the Christs to boast in the Cross Christ like Paul (Gal6:14) because it has salvation, life and resurrection. He also called upon them to Hail the Cross which brings them into worship and adoration. He reflected on the mystery of the Cross a tool of shame, punishment and humiliation, and also a tool sacrifice for love and needs and demands patience. He invited the Christians to look at the cross of sickness, death, family differences, ‘gummite’-rogue – youth! “What should we do?”, He asked! He implored the Christian to follow the Cross Spirituality: ‘The Cross! Our only Hope! And also, the teaching of St Paul; the Lord cannot give us the Cross beyond our capacity to carry. The Christians were implored to follow the examples and the teaching of Jesus Christ as was followed by the Uganda Martyrs and more so St Adolf, the Patron Saint of the Parish.

The Fr in Charge, Andrew Mulema CSC, has been in charge since April 2026. He is appreciative of the CSC fraternity in parish and the CSC other ministries in the neighborhood, and the laity support of the CSC welfare in the Parish. A lot is going in the pastoral ministries of the parish. The laity are involved under the leadership of Mr Partrick Siisa Acaali the chairperson of the laity. This day of the 3rd anniversary was also used to fundraise for the Parish – social – hall. The Parish Hall is one of the three priorities the Parish has to accomplish. The other two are a Health Centre and a Primary School. In the meantime, other Parish projects; aimed at boost Parish income are going on as reported by Patrick Siisa Acaali.
