KAMPALA, Uganda – 4th October 2025

Holy Cross Family Ministries Uganda led a large Marian devotion in Kampala, culminating with the Annual Kampala Rosary Crusade as part of the upcoming worldwide Global Rosary for Peace on 22 October 2025.

Faithful fill the streets of Kampala during the Marian Procession from Nakulabye to Lubaga.

The spiritual journey began with Fr. Dennis Lule Kaddu, C.S.C., leading a team from Nsambya Parish on a mission of prayer and support. The procession, joined by over 250 people, moved through the city’s suburbs, stopping at significant locations. They visited Sr. Alma’s home for the needy, prayed at Katwe Police, and enjoyed fellowship at the Nalukolongo Bakateyamba home, before heading to the impressive Lubaga Cathedral.

At each stop, the Holy Rosary was prayed with specific intentions, reflecting the Church’s mission to share Christ’s love with those on the fringes of society. The day served as a testament to making “Mother Mary known and loved” within the community while fervently praying for one common wish: Peace in the World.
This grassroots procession represented the Church’s mission and embodied the spirit of Venerable Patrick Peyton, C.S.C., who famously said,
“A world at prayer is a world at peace.”
The official Annual Kampala Rosary Crusade, organized by Holy Cross Family Ministries, brought hundreds together. Two Marian processions—one from Our Lady of Fatima Nakulabye Parish and one from Nsambya Parish—joined at Lubaga Cathedral, uniting prayers as a prelude to the global event.
As they moved through the busy streets, Christians raised their voices, filling the city with faith, unity, and love. This was a powerful show of the Christian community alive and engaged, openly placing its hope in the intercession of the Blessed Mother.
From the Heart of East Africa to the World: The Global Rosary for Peace
This vibrant faith in Kampala is a local centerpiece of the entire worldwide moment. The Congregation of Holy Cross now calls the world to join the Global Rosary for Peace.
On 22 October 2025, the Feast Day of St. John Paul II, the Congregation of Holy Cross, in collaboration with Holy Cross Family Ministries, will host the Global Rosary for Peace. (Pray For Peace, 2025) This online event, starting at 4:00 PM Rome time, will connect hundreds of thousands of people worldwide in a shared prayer for peace. (Global Rosary for World Peace Prayer Event, 2025) To participate, individuals and families can visit the official website to register for the event, log in, and simply tune in via the Holy Cross Family Ministries’ online platforms.
This initiative aligns with Pope Francis’s recent appeal for “everyone, each day of the month of October, to pray the Rosary for peace—personally, in the family, and in community.” In preparation for the Global Rosary for Peace, participants are encouraged to engage in specific preparatory prayers. These could include the Prayer for Peace, the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary, or a moment of silent reflection to contemplate the intentions of the event. By uniting in these prayers, attendees can deepen their spiritual engagement and foster a sense of unity ahead of the global gathering.

The event culminated with a solemn Mass at the majestic Lubaga Cathedral.

“Our hope is that this Global Rosary will gather even more people worldwide in a powerful moment of prayer to Our Lady for peace,”
said Br. Paul Bednarczyk, C.S.C., Superior General of the Congregation of Holy Cross.
The Congregation of Holy Cross, Province of East Africa, exemplifies this universal call. The recent processions and crusades in Kampala highlight the enduring legacy of Venerable Patrick Peyton’s work, which is carried forward through Holy Cross Family Ministries.
“Our founder, Venerable Patrick Peyton, believed in the power of prayer,”
said Fr. Fred Jenga, C.S.C., President of Holy Cross Family Ministries.
“He believed prayer began at home, and its power flowed into the surrounding community. We hope individuals and families worldwide will join us to bring hope and demonstrate the strength of prayer.”
The faithful of Kampala have lit a candle. On October 22nd, that light will join millions more from around the world, creating a brilliant beacon of hope and peace through the simple, powerful act of praying the Rosary together.
