My jubilee is a time for reflection, gratitude, and celebration of my dedicated service to God and the Church. The jubilee is a significant moment for me, symbolizing the grace and blessings bestowed upon me, the Congregation of Holy Cross, and the community I serve.

Rev. Fr. Willy Lukati C.S.C
I was ordained on May 13, 2000, at Holy Cross Parish, Dandora, under the Archdiocese of Nairobi in Kenya. My first assignment was at Dandora Parish, where I was very much involved in marriage and families. This was a fulfilling moment for me; I learnt a lot and came to more deeply appreciate the value of family in an urban setting.
My second assignment was at McCauley Formation House, Nairobi. It was a time to walk with our young brothers in their discernment journeys—a humbling experience.
My third assignment was at Kyarusozi Parish, where I was much involved in small Christian communities. These being the pillars of the parish, there was a lot to learn and appreciate.
After Kyarusozi Parish, I joined Uganda Martyrs University–Fort Portal Engineering Campus, where I helped in the setting up of the Business Development Office. In the year 2020, I joined Queen of Apostles Philosophy Centre, Jinja, where I am serving as the Academic Registrar.
Reflecting on my journey, I express deep gratitude to God for the grace that has sustained me through both joys and challenges. My silver jubilee stands as a reminder of the sacred privilege of serving at the altar, walking with the faithful, and planting seeds of hope in often difficult soil.
What have I learnt in the past 25 years of priesthood?
First, priesthood is not something I do on my own. I have learnt that I have to be in relationship with the rest of the faith community, especially those I serve. I am conscious of, and filled with gratitude for, the many people who have been my companions and collaborators along the way: my parents and family, relatives, the Congregation of Holy Cross, parishioners, other priests and bishops, religious sisters, teachers, volunteers, office workers. For sure, many people have helped to form me as a priest and have worked with me to help spread the good news of Our Lord.
Secondly, I have also learnt that my effectiveness as a priest boils down to my humanity: to my patience and kindness, to my love of God and neighbour. I have to be a bridge, not an obstacle, for others in their meeting Jesus.
Thirdly, I have learnt that I need faith without fear. Fear can hold me back from having a completely trusting faith in God. I have come to appreciate that the Lord cannot give me a load to carry without the strength to carry it. Now, I believe that God will never ask me more than He knows I can give with the help of His grace.
In conclusion, I thank God who has made me fortunate to have encountered and experienced Him in my life in the person of Jesus Christ. I pray that my life and ministry as a priest help others to also know the tremendous joy and hope that come from an encounter and enduring relationship with our Lord Jesus in the community of His Church.
Priesthood is not just a role, but a life poured out in love. I am grateful to all who have been part of this journey—your prayers, support, and presence have strengthened my call.

My last words as I conclude: like the psalmist, “What shall I render to the Lord for all His goodness to me!” (Psalm 116:12).
The Cross is the only Hope I have!
